About Kort Forestry

Kort Forestry is a full time consulting forestry firm owned and operated by Karl J. Kort, Consulting Forester. Karl is a graduate forester with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Science from Penn State, 1971. He offers over 31 years of full time experience as a professional consulting forester and is registered as such with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry.  Karl is also a member of the Pennsylvania Forestry Association, a qualified inspector for the American Tree Farm System and a certified Forest Stewardship Plan writer.  His daughter, Alicia Kort Fogelman is a forest technician with an Associate Degree in Forest Technology from Pennsylvania College of Technology. She has over four years experience in forest technology and is also a qualified inspector for the American Tree Farm System. His son, Nathan Kort has just joined the firm also with an Associate Degree in Forest Technology from Pennsylvania College of Technology.  Kort Forestry is a member and supporter of the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forest Initiative.

We are a family firm located in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and can advise the forest landowner in applied forest management including the appraisal, marketing and management of your forest resources.  Our services are offered on a fee or commission basis and the charge is always offset by the higher timber prices when your timber is properly appraised and marketed and your woodland is improved for the future.  Our initial site visit and consultation can usually provide enough basic information to make cursory forest management recommendations. There is usually no charge or obligation for the initial consultation within a reasonable travel distance.
